Deuces Wild is one of the most popular video poker games. The object of the game is to make the strongest five-card poker hand possible, however, you only win a prize for three of a kind or higher. The amount you win is based on the strength of your poker hand. People who love playing Deuces Wild would probably tell you that the game is easy to master and offers nothing but fun and excitement.
The Deuces are Wild
The major twist in Deuces Wild is the fact that Deuces, as the game's name indicates, can replace any other card in the deck. This makes landing a winning deuces wild hand much easier for players. The game play in Deuces Wild is very simple, a player receives five cards to create a poker hand. They are then allowed to discard whatever cards they no longer wish to keep (tip: never discard a deuce!). The dealer replaces the discarded cards with new cards from the deck. A player holding a three-of-a-kind or higher gets the prize!
An important fact to remember while playing Deuces Wild is that the card ranking system in this game is a bit different than the traditional one. Deuces Wild Card ranks go as follows:
Royal Flush (with no deuces)- A, K, Q, J, and 10 suited.
Four Deuces - Four wild cards in a single hand.
Wild Royal Flush - A royal flush with one or more deuces.
Five of a Kind - Any five cards of the same value (four of a kind with a deuce).
Straight Flush - Five consecutive cards of one suit. For example, 10,J, Q, K and Ace.
Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank.
Full House - Three cards of the same rank, along with two cards of another rank.
Flush - Five suited cards, but not of consecutive order.
Straight - Five cards in consecutive rank, not suited.
Three of a Kind - Any three cards of one rank. This is the lowest-paying combination.
Bonus Round
Winners have two options, the first is to collect the winnings and begin a new round. The second option is to double or, simply put, challenge the House. Doubling is essentially a game of high-low against the dealer. Five cards are dealt, four of the cards are concealed and the remaining one is exposed. The exposed card is the dealer's.
The player is required to select a single card from the four concealed ones. If the player's card is stronger than the dealer's, he wins. If it's the other way around, the dealer wins. In case of a tie, you could either collect your winnings (not doubled) or double once more.
