According to a recent report, a Maltese man was robbed of his poker winnings by two prostitutes on his way home. 43-year-old James Edward Mercieca informed the local authorities in Gżira that he was stripped of €330 of his money in what turned out to be a brothel. According to the victim, he stepped into the facility out of pure curiosity without requiring any services.
The poker player told investigators assigned to his case that he and his cousin were on their way home from a local casino. At some point, he was invited to enter a certain facility were he was promised to he would get a look at beautiful women. However, once he entered the venue his wallet was snatched by two prostitutes and a man with a knife demanded he left. Afraid of being hurt, Mercieca fled the scene.
The victim filed a police report asking police to locate his attackers and recuperate the stolen poker funds. He was later informed by detectives that they had apprehended Charles Debono, the male attacker. Although Mercieca recognized Debono and was 100% sure that this was the man who had robbed him of his money, the suspect did not confess to the aforementioned crime.
