'Johny World' Back in Spotlight with WPT Main Event Win
According to a recent report, prominent poker pro John "Johnny World" Hennigan nabbed the first place prize at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Main Event at the Borgata Winter Poker Open. Hennigan's stunning win made him the second poker player to win a WPT title, a WSOP bracelet and the US Poker Championship. The only other player to have such an honor is Daniel Negreanu.
Hennigan started playing poker with his Philadelphia neighborhood buddies. Other notable poker experts, such as Phil Ivey, testified that Hennigan was one of the most competent cash game players in the world and that he has certainly gained his place in the poker elite.
Commenting on his astounding $1.6 million win at the prestigious World Poker Tour competition, Hennigan was quoted as saying, "I've played a lot of poker tournaments; they're exciting and brutal. [...] I'm completely in shock right now. I've won a few tournaments in the past, and it usually doesn't sink in for the first couple hours. I'm just soaking it in. Two hours from now it will really hit me."
